September meeting & Display Bench.
As predicted by Jon we had a wonderful meeting 2 benches of flowers our largest yet I think, and Stephen Ryan was at his best speaking about a Pilgrim walk through mountains, fields and remote little villages in Italy over two weeks. With some nice little picnic lunches, washed down with red vino, and very interesting parasitic plants, many orchids and wild flowers along the way. With the kindness of strangers on a very wet cold day, coming to their aid with hot soup and somewhere warm to sit out of the rain.
Our AGM went well with our new rules being passed unanimously.
A big thank you to Fermi for most of the photo's.
We come to our bench this is the far end starting with Cynthia's selection of Primula', Salix apoda male form with catkins, cutting's originally collected in the Caucasus by an East German gardener, Notholirion bulbuliferum from the bunfight. A Serapias behind the Salix.
The bench the other end with mostly my plants.
Palmero and Ottos collection of plants with Otto's Cylamen x schwarzii Green ice seed 2010, along side Palmero and Verity's Fritillaria purdy may be hybridised with F. biflora (below).
Lorraine's collection of Epimediums above and below.
Otto's Saxifraga poluniniana from seed.
Dicentra cucullaria Viv's
Narcissus segovia Viv's
Josie's Babiana pygmaea and collection of Lachenalia's and small bulbs, you can just see Sue's dwarf pink Tulipa humilis syn. Tulipa aucheriana in the back ground.
Joy's Primula x Kewensis, Scilla mischtschenkoana and collection of Iris reticulata hybrids.
Jons large pot of Glenbrooks Narcissus Angles whisper, Pelargonium barklyi and visitor John's pot of Alionopsis spathulata in bud that would not open even with the heaters on.
As you can see there were many more plants on the benches, I'm sorry we do not have a photo of each of the plants that were tabled.
