Afternoon tea as you can see too much for a little girl to take in, "which will I have first?" Poppy seed filled pastry pockets called Oznei Haman or Hamentaschen made by Palmiro especially for our guest, which Oron said was lovely" just like home". The afternoon tea was widely enjoyed and commented on by many. "And the food" was one expression I over heard.

The balloted Galanthus Spindlestone Surprise.

A letter of musings was sent today and I can't help but print it here for you all to enjoy and chuckle about the Brownlow count, from Michael, thank you.
The presentation by Oron Peri to the AGSVG on Saturday 24/08/2019 was such a special and highly anticipated day by members and interested parties alike.
I had the event as a day to look forward to in my calendar for months. Here I will share with you a few musings from the day.

The Build up.
I was awake on the hour every hour in the wee hours in the night before the talks.
As a keen instagrammer I followed the promotions keenly, especially ticket sales and the special ballot of Galanthus Spindlestone Surprise. I baked a quiche the night before, as that morning I was keen to head up early and make sure I was there to register and find a good place to sit.
Sales.
As well as looking forward to hearing the speaker, the sales area was another aspect of the day
that made myself and other people excited. I treated it like a smorgasbord, with going back for seconds and even a third selection of goodies. It was a bit cramped and fast paced, but obviously
a great success for the group, with generous donors.
The Ballot.
I felt the ballot was a great attraction and a bit of excitement. Thanks so much to Viv for the wonderful donation. It made a lot of people very happy. I did overhear someone saying the drawing of numbers was a bit like the Brownlow count.
The Presentations.
I was so pleased to get a grasp of the way to explain the scope of the broad term Mediterranean region. Oron was able to demonstrate how much diversity there is with regions, above or below the snow line, or even the north or south side of a valley. So often, one can mistakenly generalise about
a place, only to later understand the growing conditions, including rainfall can be so different.
Oron's great photos were extensive and showed treasures I had never heard of before.
I was overwhelmed by the Iris. If anything, his passion and his vast knowledge was clearly evident.
If any criticism, I would have liked to hear more about his nursery, and growing techniques.
But maybe this is for another time. He did try to squeeze a day long seminar into a bit over two and a half hours.
The people.
It really was so much fun finally meeting in person, people I had known online for a while.
The room was buzzing with friendship and conversation. I only wish I could have had more of a chance to say hello to others, but I think we all felt, like a good party, it was over so quickly.

Many thanks to the catering department for the great food, tea and coffee.

I would like to thank all the people who sent me photo"s Michael, Di, Fermi Helen and especially Jamus whose photos were up to their usual very good standard in very poor light.
I am terribly sorry, I do not know who donated all the plants for the display table apologie's, they were all beautiful and they made the most wonderful pictures. Thank you all.
Lastly thank you to all who helped with Oron's Peri's talk it was a magnificent effort even down to a parking manager, who did a wonderful job with over 100 cars to position. The dish washers and dryers up a thankless task. What a day it was, so much fun and stressful all at the same time.
Thank you all from the committee of the AGS Victorian Group.
