More from Our Suburbs

More from our suburbs

Cyclamen persicum mix, Mags S soil mixture and conditions for growing her Cyclamen are as follows, Spotswood friable potting mix with slow release fertiliser, perlite, peat and 1/4mm minus gravel is mixed through the potting mix. The Cyclamen is kept out side in a position to get morning sun and afternoon shade.

Margs Saxifraga paniculata 'Minutifolia' is growing in one of the mini troughs that we made on the Small Trough workshop day. Potting mix is Spotswood friable potting mix with slow release fertiliser, 1/4mm minus gravel is mixed through the soil. The trough is kept out side in a position that receives morning sun and afternoon shade.
The Encrusted Saxifrages are reasonably easy from seed but there will be some variation with the seed, as it reverts back or is hybridised by other Saxifragas in close proximity, which is lovely in its own way. The Silver Saxifrages book by Beryl Bland is a lovely little book that is very helpful in growing  and sorting the genus out.
