Darien and Col's Garden.

News from Canberra.
 Darien and Col's Garden

Col writes sharing a few pictures with you. Loved your blog with all the stunning Galanthus. Your right in saying "we wait all year for them". Ours have done exceptionally well considering we've had to water all winter. This weekend has been the first in a couple of months with any precipitation. Some of that being snow last night. Sooo cold. 15mm in our rain gauge over the last 3 days. Nothing new to show you just more of the same (We love to see what you are flowering and growing Col.)
A lot of our Galanthus are under weeping maples so they have protection from the heat and get full sun (if there is any) in the winter. We will have to move some this next year though. Things like Galanthus gracilis and Galanthus Erics Choice and a few more are in mostly constant shade. Galanthus gracilis has multiplied to about 20 bulbs but not a flower amongst them. Crocus are about to peak in the next week or two and the Erythroniums are popping up out of the ground. A beautiful time. Most things have no tags I'm afraid as the blackbirds are multiplying as much as the bulbs here and they scratch out the labels and scatter them.
Funny you should mention the Queenslanders in your blog..... We had a couple at our Autumn show where we sell a hugh amount of bulbs including some Galanthus. I was on the plant stall and not knowing where they were from at first, I sold them 10 Galanthus Lady Beatrix Stanley bulbs and said "they'll do well as starters. Where do you live?" He replied "QLD" I went red in the face and thought I should take them back (as you would Col) but he answered somewhere above Toowoomba they get minus 4 deg. celsius. I had no idea. He said bulbs grow well there.
I hope those 10 Galanthus Lady Beatrix Stanley bulbs grow well for them Col it does well here too, but I don't think I would have 10 for sale.
