Corydalis maracandica.
Lynn has had this gorgeous Corydalis growing in her rock garden, but has been dug to go to their new home. It was growing under a rock where it must have made its way to keep cool or had been disturbed whilst Lynn was planting another plant near by. The rock garden is well drained and is watered once a week with a sandy, gravelly mix in the soil. Lynn thought she had lost it, but as can so often happen it shot out a new leaf and it has been potted up into a terracotta unglazed pot.
Corydalis maracandica is from Tadjikstan, West Zerawshan range growing in Platanus-Acer woods in deep clay, leafmould soil at 1500-2500meters, it is very similar to Corydalis ledebouriana but where it overlaps with Corydalis maracandica, it creates a beautiful and varied hybrid swarm. Recently introduced into cultivation in 1989.
