Cyclamen early.

                                            Early Cyclamen

My favourite colour of Cyclamen coum a gift from a friend. Flowers are a rose madder in colour against the beautiful pewter coloured leaf, a lovely combination. What more could you ask for, may be perfume but not much of a scent to this lovely C. coum. Growing in the glass house as it's to valuable to go into the garden as yet, not until I have seedlings of this beauty. I grow it in a terra cotta pot, in a good draining potting mix.

Cyclamen repandum subsp. peloponnesiacum from Green Ice seed company from the original owners. With good splashes on the leaves. Found growing on the Peloponnisos, in damp mossy coniferous or deciduous woodland. Mine is growing in woodland conditions with plenty of leaf mould around the bulbs and is very happy in these conditions. There seems to be confusion around its name as some people call it C. repandum subsp. peloponnesiacum and some call it C. rhodium subsp. peloponnesiacum I am happy to call it as the RHS. UK. call it and that is Cyclamen repandum subsp. peloponnesiacum. A clump of Nerines in the back ground.

Cyclamen elegans from Archibald seed collected in Iran, this is an old photo but I have several pots out in flower at the moment. I grow C. elegans in black plastic pots as terra cotta pots dry out too quickly and they are all in a good potting mix, free draining with leaf mulch mixed through it. Origanum dictamnus is in the back ground and Tecophilea cyanocrocus var. violacea.

Our next meeting is on Colchicum with yours truly Viv speaking on the 22nd May at 7.30pm on Zoom. So if you are interested Fermi will be sending out pass word in the news letter.
